Hi, Aquatech..

Friday, I headed down to Irvine after work and saw an accident happen 2 cars away from me.. lady rear-ended some dude... then I made a quick stop to visit my buddy in the nursing home. Man, he's gotten so much better!! I remember when he had all these tubes in him and now he's trying to walk, is feeding himself and his speech has gotten a lot better. So good to see. Maybe at the end of the year, he'll be outta there.

Finished my drive down to Irvine, stopped by Sp0rts Auth0rity and picked up some goggles cause I forgot mine at home, then some Jack in the Crack and then to the best bud's apt. I laced up my shoes with some bungee type laces-Yankz! while I ate and made sure everything was ok... couldn't fall asleep quickly and when I did, the best bud's bf came in around 2... it's cool, they were somewhat quiet but I had just fallen asleep and thought they were going to stay up and drink some more but they didn't.. I got a little annoyed but it's probably cause I think the best bud's bf is a douche.. ehh what are you gonna do.. woke up at 5:30, took a shower and headed out..

Drive out there was pretty easy.. I'll post a race report at the bottom. I finished 9 minutes over my goal, got beat by a 76yr old by 6 minutes and got smoked by a girl in the last 100 ft... great race!!

After that, I headed back to the best friend's place and got some In n 0ut... a 3x3, fries and a vanilla milkshake to be exact.. mmmm!!! There was this one guy that ordered 50 burgers and 25 fries!!! DAMN!!! I've never seen anyone order that much while I was in line.. he needed one of those milk trays to carry them out.. I wonder if he got to keep the tray? After that, I could not get up from the couch!! Not because I was sore but because I watched 3 episodes of M@n vs. Wild... That show is rad!!! Hit up a friend's bbq before I went home and called it an early night...

Sunday, I wake up at 645 to someone yelling.. I'm thinking, "Damn, who the hell is yelling at this time?" Then I hear my dad storm out of his bedroom yelling, "Motherfuckers.." once I hear that, I instantly think that he's gonna talk to the person yelling.. then I hear the rest, "Motherfuckers won't even wake up!!" apparently a pipe busted in his bathroom and he was yelling for us so we could turn off the water while he was catching the water... this really pissed me off and lit a fire under my ass to really get the fuck out... Who calls their sons "motherfuckers?" I hope I never grow up to be like him...

After that fiasco, I packed up the buffet board and headed out. Super small surf and a little bit of a chill... I knew I was tired and something didn't feel right but I stayed in anyway.. there was a guy on a 10'6 dewey performer.. DAMN!! I didn't know they came that big.. he was really diggin my board and I wanted to try his.. I was too afraid of him going king kong on mine so I decided not to trade.. after an hour and a half of sole slappers, a set wave came up so I paddled like hell for it.. so did everyone else... I whipped around and thought I was in the best spot... right before I popped up, someone calls me off.. this guy is engulfed in white water... I give him the "you gotta be kidding me look" and pull off.. It was really hard to pull up and when I did, my board was sticking over the wave.. what does this jackass do? He decides to try and smack the lip, throw some spray on me or scare me... fucker spears my board... thanks for that! he could have just gone down the line and still worked the wave.. DAMMIT!!! Guess I'll be visiting aquatech.. I'll surf the buffet board at the doo dah but with some duct tape.. got out after a few more waves...

Overall, Sunday probably wasn't the best time to surf... my arms were dead, I got called motherfucker by my dad and the buffet board got speared... I should have just gone on my bike ride...

Finalized my costume for Saturday.. hope I don't drown!!!

Race Report:
Thursday night, I got about 3-4 hours of sleep so Friday, all I wanted to do was go to the best bud's place and sleep.. got there about 8, prepared my gear, ate dinner and watched some tv... asleep.. or trying to around 10.. finally fall asleep around 12 and then get woken up by the douche and his friends at 2... i think they left 45min-1hr later.. few hours of sleep, get up, shower and I'm out.. clifbar, chocolate milk and sports drink on the way.. damn, we have to park in a dirt lot.. carry my bike about 100yrds and walk to the bike transition.. damn, I should have just rode my bike there.. I was dripping sweat by the time I got there.. get body marked, pick up my shirt, chip and cap then head over to my wave rack... had to rack with the chicks cause my wave rack was full.. oh well.. head down to the swim start, chat it up with some racers, the national anthem and then the start.. I was in wave 6 and started 25 or 30 min after the first wave.. I was racing in the fat guy division and thought it would be cool to pass some people.. man I like racing with the old guys.. they're funny.. they asked if we could just swim to the first buoy.. then the chants started.. some guy yelled, "Let's go old guys!!" then I yelled, "Let's go fat guys!!" then another guy yelled, "Let's go old and fat guys!!!" and finally one guy said, "Damn, we have the women behind us!! I really like the idea of all these women chasing me but only chasing, not passing!!" Hilarious.. *air horn* and we're off!! I've never experienced the carnage of a mass start.. guys were swimming over me, hitting my feet, head and arms.. I had to push a guy to the side cause he swan at an angle in front of me.. after the first buoy, I had some open space and settled in.. near the last buoy (which meant 300 or so meters) I see white caps.. SWEET!! oh wait, those are blue caps!!! WOMEN!! DAMMIT!! Oh well.. get to shore, run half on the beach and the other on pavement to the transition.. a total of 400yrds or so.. I'M SO TIRED!! Shot of gel washed down with sports drink, and I'm off.. bike was really fun.. I got scolded for staying on the left going over the bridge "Get over to the right!!" Oops!! Then again, the bridge was closed to traffic so he could have gone to the other lane.. ehh!! I took turns passing people and then getting passed by them.. a little after the second half of the bike, I could feel myself slowing down... damn I knew I should have brought the gels.. then the 76 yr old guy passed me.. I told him he was my idol while I was trying to keep up with him then he disappeared.. get into the transition and damn it's hot!! I run to the rack, shot of gel and off and running... HOT!! I thought I was going to explode!! I backed it down a bit and threw water on me at every aid station... I did get to pass a few guys on the run but I knew I was running slow cause I was comfortable.. there were a lot of hot women!!! old and young.. squish.. squish.. squish!!! damn, shoes are soaking wet!! please no blisters!!! turned the corner after the 2nd loop and almost done... Sweet!! nobody around me.. then WTF!! a girl blows by me and the marines cheering us on saw the expression on my face and laughed.. ahh well!! there are a lot of other people that are faster than me...
Swim time: 37min- about right with that long run
Bike: 1:27- good enough for me considering the nutrition problem
Run- 1:06-dammit!! I knew I was running slow.. 1.5min slower than my race pace..
Finish 3:09- 9min over my goal.. but breaking 3hrs is doable

All things considered, a great race and great training session!! I figured out my nutrition (BRING SOME!!) The marines were great and I tried to thank everyone of them... and post food was water and oranges.. I swear they were the sweetest I've ever had.. I ate 9 or 10 wedges... after that, I changed and stood in line for a massage.. I really think this helped me recover... towards the end of it, it was time to close up shop.. OOPS!! My bike was still racked.. good thing I wasn't the only one out there..AHHAHAHA.. got back to the friends place, took a nap and watched 3 episodes of M@n vs Wild.. great show!! Definitely will do this next year and back down the training the week before... Woo hoo!! 9 more weeks until the Big K@huna!!!!

Dude, great synopsis! You were only one hour longer than my sprint length, but I recently found out the Carlsbad tri is the longest sprint, I thought they were all the same. Some young chick also decided to sprint past me at the very last and it pissed me off! I wouldn't have even known she was coming if the goofball announcer hadn't said "here comes number *** ,but hey, he's gonna get passed!" So I look and didn't have time to get in gear and she jumped through the line like two feet in front of me. I remebered her number then looked up her division - good job beating a 49 yr old first timer Ms 30 yr old, your time was only 15 minutes better than mine!

Sorry bout the Dad stuff - sounds like something I would say if I didn't think people were listening! doh!
